For the longest time I thought, what’s the point of the iTunes rating? Seriously. Obviously I know whether I like a song or not. Well, one tends to forget. Besides, what am I going to do, go through every song and rate it? Time waster.
I got to the point where I stopped listening to any of my older music because I had forgotten what was good. The My Rating can help you discover what’s good in your music library, and it’s so simple if you follow these steps:
When you add new music, simply rate it right away.- Put your iPod or iTunes on shuffle and when you hear a good song, rate it immediately.
Now you’ve rated a bunch of songs. Create a Smart Playlist with songs with certain ratings and sort it by rating. Now you have a listing of some of the best songs in your library. You will continually add to it as time goes on and as you slowly rate more songs. So whenever you want to actually hear something good, pull up that playlist.
Take advantage of your slow rating process and maybe clean up the tags on a good song so you can create playlists only with certain genres.
