Sure, one might admit that being young is a good thing in general. The search for the famed fountain of youth continues indeed, but what is it that makes being young so great? Stanford student Ramit Sethi has thought about that. He’s a great person to go to when it comes to financial questions for college students. He keeps several blogs somehow and has begun a couple companies.
Anyway, his blog post about this has shown me, a person in his 20s, how great it really can be to be young.
“Every time I hear someone say “I’m too busy” to do something, a little puppy dies and I want to stab myself in the eye with a katana blade. I don’t think people realize how good we have it right now: We’re young, we’re only responsible for ourselves, and we can do basically anything we want. If you think about the responsibilities we’ll have in 20 years–or even 5–you start to appreciate that doing almost anything will never get easier than it is now.” – 28 July 2006, I Will Teach You How to be Rich
One of the good sticking points is how someone young could lose all their money and it really wouldn’t be so bad starting up again. You have less to lose. We have more opportunities to do things, travel, take risks.
