Adding that Edge to Life

I’m back and going to attempt to post regularly even though I’m busy with two classes and work. I’m at a point in my life where things just sometimes seem drab, so why not get out and do things? My trip to Brazil was amazing and I had the chance to meet new people and make friends. It’s always great to have friends from around the world.

So in an effort to improve a drab situation one attempts to find life improving resources. I’ve lately been taken by these lifehack sites like Lifehack.org or Lifehacker.com. Seriously, you can learn some pretty neat things about organizing your time, improving your work life, saving money, maintaining relationships, etc. Lifehacker.com always has fresh posts about similar things with a software edge to it.

One of the best things one can do is meet new people with similar interests. Meetup.com is something I’ve been wanting to get involved with for a long time. I finally signed up to a travel meetup group. They meet once a month and members share stories, learn from each other, and enjoy time out. One of the groups often takes local trips. I’ve been looking to join a Disney group but no one has started one in my area. To be an organizer you pay a monthly fee for all the resources for organizing a meetup group. For six months it works out to $12 a month or $15/month for 3 months. I’ve still yet to decide if it’s worth it or if I have the time to devote.

I think another thing one can do to better ones life is to redo or create a personal budget, try and save some more. You know, HSBC Direct now offers 5.05% on their online savings account. Pretty good. Another way to keep myself busy and mentally active is keeping a small notebook with me. I’ve been able to better keep track of my to do lists, blogs I read, schedules, lists, and other ideas. Sometimes laziness takes hold but finding something else to put your mind on or getting involved in certainly adds that ummph to life.

  • Sounds like you’re in that perfect little pocket of life where you’re after something, and before the next thing. Stretch this moment out, and really think it over. You’ve got a great opportunity here to really impact your life for the future.

Laziness isn’t bad, you know. It’s part of a wave. Ride it back to where you get things done again.

A great book to get (from your library or what not) is the 8th Habit (Covey’s sequel to the 7 Habits). It’s much better written and addresses the whole person. You might enjoy it.

Thanks for reading us at Lifehack.org
